Chipembele Trust (UK)

…advancing the education of children in Zambia

Chipembele Trust is a UK registered charity, number 1107698, which supports the work of the Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust in Zambia.

Chipembele Trust supports:

  • The activities of Chipembele Wildlife Education Centre
  • The construction, refurbishment and maintenance of local school buildings
  • The purchase of furniture, equipment and educational materials for the local schools
  • The Chipembele Pupil Sponsorship Scheme which enables orphaned and otherwise vulnerable children in Mfuwe to attend school
  • Sponsorship of qualified but unpaid teachers
  • Activities and programmes that improve the conditions in which the pupils learn in or which improve their general education

Chipembele Trust believes that

  • By teaching children the value of wildlife, they will conserve an important resource which will benefit the region for generations to come
  • By combining this awareness with local educational needs the Trust can provide excellent academic support and build a vital learning resource for local schools

Meet the Trustees:

Rob Arnott - Chairman. Rob has been involved directly in energy for the past 20 years in various senior roles. During this time he has supported many charitable causes around the world but has always focused much of his efforts on improving education and health in Africa.
Nigel Morgan - Hon Secretary. Nigel is the former next door neighbour to Steve and Anna in Oxford, and is now thoroughly bitten by the Africa bug. He is a chartered surveyor and holds a Masters in Historic Conservation. He is also interested in the refurbishment of old houses. He is a keen sailor, with ambitions to live in Cornwall where he hopes to one day start a boat photography business.
Mary Davies - Hon Treasurer. Mary fell in love with Africa when she first visited in 1991 and has been returning there ever since. She hopes that one day she and her husband can live in Zambia. She is a self-employed consultant, married, with no children and lives in a rural village in Wiltshire where she is the village fete committee treasurer. She enjoys gardening, diving and taking her beagle, Jasper, for long walks.
