Having visited the
boys and girls dormitories at Mfuwe Day Secondary School, Lance was
shocked at the terrible conditions they were living in. 50 girls sleep on
the floor of a small, 3-bedroom rented house with no furniture, no
electricity, no running water, no kitchen or bathroom. There are just two
outside drop toilets. He therefore decided that the funds raised would all
go to the Chipembele Dormitory Appeal.
Chipembele Trust (UK)
has been running an Appeal for funds for a new 48 bed girls dormitory for
some time and we are soon about to start constructing. However funds are
tight and still more are needed for electrification, bunk beds, mattresses
and lockers.
